Applied Engineering Plastics was in need of an updated image on the web. Their previous site had been designed before the days of Content Management Systems and SEO. They also needed updated photography to better highlight the extreme precision and skill they bring to every job.

Visit the new site

Making plastics feel warm

From the outset the client said they wanted the new site to feel friendly and “warm”… that’s right up our alley. We focused on typography to pull it off. By lowercasing all the menu items and mixing a serif type throughout the site, we were able to easily achieve the desired effect. We also kept it clean by using a primarily white background and using sparse color thorough out for impact.

Old home page

We also helped the client get updated finished product shots as well art directed some shop photography to really help tell the complete story of what they do.

Premium Retail services was attending a retail pharmacy retreat and wanted to catch the attention of the executives taking part. After a brief chat, it was decided we would create a series of fake drug ads that highlighted the benefits (and side-effects) of working with Premium over their competitors.

This project quickly progressed from just an ad campaign to a product naming and packaging project… and we LOVED it! We worked with the client to create the pretend drug names and then developed logos and packaging to complement them. We then wrote the basic copy direction and the client took the ball and ran.

The final product was three ads that spoke directly to their audience and explained why Premium Retail Services is the best choice in the industry (in an unconventional way).

New website for design build firm launches

In late 2009, KAI Design & Build engaged Tripp Co. Creative to redesign and re-engineer their website. The website redesign was part of an overall strategy to highlight the firms focus on technology and to simplify the upkeep of the site by implementing a Content Management System (CMS) while providing a vastly improved and more logical architecture.

Visit the new site and the sister site for their Texas location

New Home Page

A sampling of feedback the client has received:

“Great web site, easy to navigate and loaded with key information. Very fast and a nice clean design.”

“It is absolutely one of the coolest sites I’ve seen.”

“Looks great. Easy to move around and find info. Congratulations!”

“Your new web site is cool, informative, architectural, graphically sharp, perfectly simple, easy to navigate and easy to read.”

“I absolutely love it!! Very informative and extremely crisp! Great job!”

Constructing the perfect user experience

At the outset of the project, Tripp Co. Creative conducted a comprehensive discovery session on the current KAI website to understand why, where and how it was failing to meet customer and business needs. We feel this is the most important step in any web project. It allows us to lay a solid foundation for every decision that gets made down the line. The original site had a flash landing page that was preventing organic search engines from crawling past the front page. The navigation was also less than intuitive and segmented their services. We wanted to integrate the services and demonstrate that the firm offers a comprehensive solution to any design or construction need a user may have.

Old Home Page

Old Secondary Page

We realized early on that the portfolio section of this site was going to be the keystone to properly showcasing the extensive capabilities of KAI. In fact, the portfolio section was what we all (KAI and Tripp Co.) scrutinized the most. We wanted it to be interesting and interactive but needed to balance the “cool factor” with ease of use and practicality.

The other challenge that needed to be addressed was the company structure… one company with two locations and both locations having very different identities. What ever solution the team came up with had to work for both locations. This meant having two distinct sites allowing separate control but sharing information between the two.

During the course of the project, Tripp Co. suffered a setback with a developer on the site and we were forced to essentially start the programming portion of the project all over. Luckily, KAI and Tripp Co. made a great team and together we got the site done and launched.

Take a look at both sites and see for yourself how we addressed all the challenges. And if you’d like to know more, feel free to give us a call at 314-440-3477 or 618-593-3603 and we’ll be happy to chat. Or visit our site and see what we are all about.

Explosive ladies get a new logo!

Smashinistas Jersey Design

Some rough-and-tumble, roller derby ladies were having a tough time coming up with a new logo for their jerseys. A few ideas had been submitted, but not everyone in the group was ready to proclaim any of them a winner.

Polkadot YR Eyeout is a personal friend of Tripp Co. Creative’s owner and approached him to help. He loves being of service in a pinch, especially for really fun projects like this one.

Tripp Co. took the basic idea that had already been presented and refined and redesigned it. The Smashinistas have a “princess militia” theme to their uniforms, so the final logo had to reflect their image. The splatters on the logo work out well because they could be read as sweat or blood (these girls are tough) by the spectators. The type has and unmistakable military feel and the pink was chosen to coordinate with the trim intheir uniforms.

So roll on over to see the “Smashies” sometime, and make sure to look at their breasts… to admire the logo of course.

Operation Tribute to Freedom (OTF), a program of the U.S. Army, shares the stories of Soldiers who have or are currently serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The program connects these Soldiers with their local communities through speaking and appreciation events, as well as media outreach. When the program started the Army wanted to emphasize the personal stories of the soldiers and their families. The materials are intended to be a “scrap book” of sorts. With handwritten notes, taped on photos, etc. Banners were created to send to events across the country, and as the snapshot shows, they were used as a backdrop for Josh Gracin as he performed at an OTF event.
